Although you’ll see mice and other rodents year-round in North Dakota and Minnesota, you’ll see them in your home more commonly in the fall. They retreat indoors for warmth and shelter before the winter hits.

How Can I Tell if I Have Mice?

It’s pretty easy to determine if you’ve got mice in your home. You’ll hear scratching or scurrying noises in the walls and vents, particularly at nighttime. You will find tiny black mouse droppings as well.

How to Get Rid of Mice

It can be effective to lay out mousetraps, using cheese or peanut butter as bait. You will want to get rid of mice and other rodents as soon as possible because they can pose a health risk. Place traps near food sources, and move them every few days.

You should also remove any entry points for rodents into your home. That means placing rodent screens over exterior pipes and fireplaces and sealing up cracks in your home. Using an exterminator will help you to eliminate mice and rodents and keep them from returning.
